Overview

The position is 2nd shift, hours 6:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. Overtime is required as needed.

Perform a variety of welding and repair operations in support of customer’s turbomachinery services. Turbomachinery will include turbines, compressors, pumps, gear boxes, and supporting equipment and/or components.

Employees are required to provide and maintain their own tools (company does have tool allowance to help assist in purchasing employee owned tools).

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Perform complex layouts
  • Cutting, burning and fabrication of tooling or fixtures associated with equipment repair
  • Certified in Elliott welding process preferred, TIG, MIG, submerged arc and heliarc
  • Perform diaphragm weld repairs, both inconel and stainless steel. Includes partitions, split-lines, side walls, seal faces and fits, set-backs, ledge blocks, crush pins, etc.
  • Able to weld both ferrous and non-ferrous metals
  • Perform heat treating processes such as localized stress relieving
  • Perform non-destructive testing to Elliott specifications
  • Assist mechanics with turbine and compressor overhaul functions
  • Process documentation associated with turbomachinery overhauls. Including, but not limited to, work scopes, inspection forms, hold tags, photo logs, turnover logs
  • Safely operate equipment such as overhead cranes, hydraulic torque wrenches, fork truck, cut-off saws, heating/cutting torches, plasma cutting, balance machines, sand blast booth, steam cleaner
  • Safely operate power hand tools such as drills, grinders, hydraulic presses, punch presses, saws
  • Read and understand Elliott procedures, specifications, bulletins, etc.
  • Process documentation associated with turbomachinery overhauls, including, but not limited to, work scopes, inspection forms, hold tags, photo logs, turnover logs
  • Observe all safety regulations. Participation in the safety committee may be required
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Qualifications

  • Must have a mechanical background and a minimum of 5 years' experience in the welding trade.
  • Specialized welding processes and repairs associated with turbine and compressor repairs/modifications is a plus.
  • Welding experience shall include TIG, MIG, submerged arc, heliarc.
