Elliott Company's Houston, TX, office seeks a Turbomachinery Applications Engineer to integrate and optimize internal processes to improve competitiveness and serve our global customers more effectively. Duties include leading the application engineering function for Engineered Products; monitoring progress on projects, and ensuring that projects are completed in a timely manner; and maintaining comments and exceptions to the industry-wide standards as well to recurring customer specifications.
Must have a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of post-baccalaureate and progressively responsible experience in a related position involving API 617 compressors and 612 turbines.
Must also have any experience with: (i) the selection, costing and quotation of API 617 compressors and 612 turbines; (ii) customer bid clarifications in a customer facing role; (iii) thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics and their role in turbo machinery; (iv) rotor dynamics and mechanical limitations related to turbo machinery; (v) working with turbo machinery auxiliary support equipment, such as API 614 seal and lube oil systems; (vi) hydrocarbon processing processes, including but not limited to: ethylene cracking, propane dehydrogenation (PDH), LNG refrigeration and various refinery processes; and (vii) evaluating the technical and commercial bids of associated auxiliaries of API 612 and 617 packages including but not limited to: large main drive motors and generators, VFDs, gas turbine drivers, surface condensers, fixed and variable speed gear boxes, couplings, torque meters, dry gas seals and control systems.
