Overview

 

Purpose of Job:

Day-to-day management of the Accounting function for all Latin America entities as well as the Houston Service Center (Zone).

Management of related computerized Accounting and support systems for the Zone.

Assuring adequate design of Internal Controls and compliance with company policy in the Zone.

Management of the Treasury functions in the entities including cash flow forecasts.

Preparation of Statutory accounts and financial reports in accordance with US GAAP and relevant international accounting guidance including translations.

Training, development and performance reviews of direct reports and subordinates.

Liaise with Sr. Management and Corporate functions (Internal Audit, Treasury, Credit & Collections, Tax, IT) on issues relating to the Zone.

Provide support and guidance to Operations personnel in the Zone as required.

Participation in and assistance with process improvement initiatives.

 

Nature of Job:

Develop processes and implement recommendations that ensure Elliott complies with US GAAP, FASB, local GAAP, IFRS, JSOX directives and various tax jurisdiction regulations.

Report the financial performance of the Zone entities in a timely and accurate manner.

Design and implement policies and procedures to ensure an adequate internal control structure and safeguarding corporate assets (cash management and collection, working capital, FCPA exposure, Balance Sheet reconciliations).

Management and supervision of others to accomplish broader goals and objectives.

Flexibility to handle various financial and operational special projects as required.

Demonstrates the ability to work independently without continuous management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement accounting policies, practices and procedures, resulting in compliance with FASB and GAAP; ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Direct systems of internal control resulting in the safeguarding of corporate assets and compliance with corporate policies, relevant laws and regulations.
  • Direct the efforts of tax accounting and tax compliance to comply with reporting requirements in a timely manner across the Zone.
  • Direct the development and implementation of effective and efficient automated accounting systems.
  • Ensure the integrity of all manual and automated systems as they apply to the financial well-being of the corporation.
  • Ensure accurate inventory evaluations.
  • Assure appropriate transfer pricing rules devised and followed to properly share risk and profitability.
  • Integrate any new acquisitions or Product Lines into the appropriate corporate operating policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring Latin America entity registrations are kept up to date.
  • Preparation of entity cash flows.
  • Direction and control of cash collection and the Treasury functions.
  • Travel approximately 5-10%, primarily to Brazil, Guatemala, and Jeannette, PA.

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance. Business Administration or other related field with relevant experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of diversified financial/accounting experience, including experience in manufacturing and service environments.
  • US and Latin America accounting and reporting knowledge are required as well as previous exposure to tax laws in Latin America countries.
  • Must be bi-lingual (English and Spanish); Portuguese would be very beneficial as well.
  • Analytical skills are essential, as are good communication skills.
  • Experience managing or supervising others is desirable.
  • The ability to manage large amounts of data from multiple sites within tight guidelines/deadlines is a necessity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Accounting and ERP systems.
