Overview

 

This position is responsible to direct and manage foundational EHS systems that are utilized by the EHS organization globally with an emphasis on manufacturing operations. This position will manage EHS compliance and process conformance, identify opportunities for risk management, and manage and prevent related liabilities from a holistic EHS perspective.

 

Travel is bi-weekly between Jeannette, PA and Belle Vernon, PA with occasional international travel to Sodegaura, Japan.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Implement the EHS strategic plan for manufacturing operations and supporting executive leadership with EHS matters including Jeannette, Belle Vernon, and Sodegaura. Also responsible for the EHS support to 400+ office personnel.
  • Develop and lead implementation of EHS systems for manufacturing operations leading deployment in Jeannette operations and cascading to additional manufacturing locations globally.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain internal processes for EHS related to manufacturing operations such as procedures, work instructions, and ISO compliant systems.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain the corporate system for identification and mitigation of process EHS risk from an enterprise and process specific perspectives.
  • Manage the system for standardized EHS metrics to be used to establish long term and short term goals for manufacturing operations.
  • Manage legacy information and controls critical EHS data including third party audit reports, risk assessment reports, key health and safety documents, and environmental permits.
  • Manage the strategic interface with external regulatory agencies and external EHS legal counsel.
  • Manage the incident investigation process for manufacturing operations to identify trends, best practices, and opportunities for incident prevention.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance for EHS Representatives at global manufacturing locations to develop EHS talent and competency.
  • Reduce EHS risks, liability and associated financial costs pertaining to compliance for manufacturing operations.
  • Act as EHS expert for manufacturing operations and remain actively engaged with continuing education relevant to the position in order to maintain EHS certifications and to ensure regulatory knowledge on changes that may affect EHS compliance.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and/or Health and Safety Science or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of applicable experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience working in a union environment is preferred.
  • Experience with EHS management systems (ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001), strongly desired.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal and written skills are essential, as this position must interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Internet-based systems).
