The general function is to develop work instructions and route sheets for component manufacturing operations. The position provides technical liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering disciplines to ensure a design-to-cost approach and manufacturability within safety and quality requirements.  Serves as an integrator of intra-group and inter-group activities, which contributes to capital plan decisions, new product(s) design, adoption of new, more efficient technologies and processes.


Position level and salary are commensurate with experience.


  • Develops route sheets, work instructions and JHA’s for manufacturing operations.
  • Reviews engineering designs for manufacturability, quality & cost.
  • Develops manufacturing processes for a wide variety of component parts and assemblies.   Focus on establishing Best Practice.
  • Determines tooling and fixture requirements for manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Problem solves and troubleshoots manufacturing processes.
  • Reviews processes for cost reduction opportunities and incorporates new technologies.
  • Recommends equipment requirements.
  • Provides technical liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering.
  • Actively participates in cost reduction activities seeking to lower manufacturing costs.
  • Reviews design drawings for manufacturability, quality, low cost.
  • Proposes tooling and fixtures through tool requests; consults and approves tool/fixture designs.
  • Supports make/buy decisions.
  • Reviews scrap and rework data to eliminate root cause. Assists with NCR dispositions.
  • Continually upgrades own education, keeping current with state-of-the-art methods of manufacturing.
  • Travels as required by job to review vendors and processes, expected to be minimal (domestic or international).
  • Trains and assists other personnel in accomplishing specific tasks.



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience doing Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering related work with proven performance to gain knowledge of the total scope of the job.
  • Must be familiar with manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixture design; must understand N/C methods and CAD/CAM principles.
  • Analytical skills in defect prevention, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
  • Good communication skills.
