Overview

The position of Methods Engineer exists to provide technical and administrative direction in the form of meeting all of the Elliott Company's manufacturing needs. This position is also responsible for C.N.C. Programming on Vertical Mills and Lathes.  Possible creating of Route Sheets when necessary.  This position also leads and or participates in fostering manufacturing techniques pertaining to reducing part cost and increasing part quality.

Responsibilities

The line position activities are associated with controlling and coordinating all production activities. The support functions deal directly with the development and implementation of all C.N.C. Programs and associated Computer Generation of Route Sheets.  This position is also responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of a multi functional department.

 Additional responsibilities include:

  • The execution of training programs(s)
  • Development of new manufacturing process to reduce cost or other waste.
  • Possible creating of Route Sheets for material manufacturing instructions and needs.

This position is required to interact with all levels of personnel and departments within the company. The most frequent contacts are with the Production Manager Area Manager Central Planning Personnel Machine Tool Suppliers and Tooling Vendors. Outside customer contacts are on an as needed basis. Travel is on an as needed basis. This position functions occasionally in a supervisory position in the event of an absence. This position leads and directs Bargaining Unit Personnel.

Qualifications

8+ years’ experience in manufacturing processes including:

  • At least two years’ experience with some form of CADCAM programming system.
  • Experience with Vertical Turning Lathes /VTL, and Vertical Mills.
  • Familiarity with computer assisted Route Sheet generation a plus.
  • Vericut, GibbsCam, Hypermill experience preferred.

 

Additional skills required would include the ability to motivate and administrate Bargaining Personnel and possess good communication skills as well as analytical capabilities and problem solving techniques.
