  • Overview

    To perform all the required layout, set-up, manual machining, subassembly, tool setting, deburring parts, broaching keyways, dimension checking, movement of parts materials and assemblies process while working with a team and supporting other areas of the shop as needed.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Obtain raw materials / parts from stock, drawings, tools, fixtures, templates targets and other materials as required.
    • Works from and interpret prints, drawings, work lists, work orders books, short form manuscript, tool set-up sheets and bill of materials.
    • Verifies materials, drawings, routing sheets and tooling are in agreement with the work order book.
    • Set up machines by installing and adjusting, tools, clamps, studs, tapes, adapting positioning or aligning fixtures, pallets, parts and sets proper speeds and feeds as required.
    • Enter all data onto shop floor computers, including work scope sign-offs, etc.
    • Work on non-machining activities, as this is a small shop, the Machinists, Millwrights & Welders all work together and help each other.

    Qualifications

    • Licensed Manual Machinist in the providence of Ontario
    • Experience/exposure to operate lathes, drill press, vertical/horizontal boring mills
    • Ability to read/interpret blueprints
    • Basic computer skills
    • Willingness to cross train and work other tasks in the shop.
    • Must be available for first shift
