  • Overview

    Responsible for the design, development, manufacture and testing of Alternating Current Induction Electric Motors/Generators for submerged cryogenic pump and expander applications on time and on budget in accordance with engineering practices utilized by the Division. Also, responsible for reviewing project specifications and supporting project related requirements for the selection of variable frequency drive systems if required by the project in accordance with applicable electrical design codes.


    Travel: Could require a short term stay (estimated at 2-3 weeks per month for approximately 6-9 months) for training at the Sparks, NV location and travel to Sparks as needed thereafter.


    • Will work independently to perform any engineering assignment including complex problems/assignments and complete almost any task with minimal to no guidance.
    • Responsible for the design and approval of electric motors for project specific requirements. This includes motor design development specific to project requirements, material requirements, BOM's, Test plans and QA requirements.
    • Support project engineering group wtih motor application information for specific applications. This application information will be either a new design, existing design, motor sizing, etc.
    • Suppor the project engineering, application engineering and AMS departments on day to day project, application and aftermarket questions. This will entail verification of performance, application, industry standards, component drawings,etc.
    • Take ownership of on time and budget deliverables produced & their quality.
    • Participate in project technical clarification meetings as necessary including customer meetings at site which may require domestic and international travels based on project requirements.
    • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other disciplines within the company, vendors and the customer as required to close out all pending contractual matters per approved Engineering Department procedures.
    • Supervision and coordination during preparation of manufacturing drawings, bill of materials and documents per approved Engineering Department procedure in MRP system.
    • Issuance of test procedures and manuals as necessary to ensure correct testing and operation of equipment specified by Engineering Department per approved Engineering Department procedures.
    • Supervision of assembly and operation of the equipment to ensure correctness and suitability of design together with updating of Engineering documents to reflect “As Built” condition.
    • Supervise prototype production assembly projects as needed.
    • Provide support to project engineers, application engineers, field service engineers, customers, vendors, chain management and engineering management.
    • Preparation and submittal of customer engineering documentations per approved Engineering Department Procedures thru utilizing internal ERP System.
    • Apply engineering knowledge and sound engineering practices to troubleshoot assembly, manufacturing and testing problems. Provides technical guidance and direction to other engineers, designers, drafters, test and shop personnel.
    • Work closely with Engineering Management in developing and updating Engineering Department’s standards and practices relating to production of EIC products.
    • Completion of any other assigned tasks in accordance with written/verbal instructions or approved Engineering Department procedures.


    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
    • Minimum 3 years direct engineering experience in execution of AC induction form and random wound motor/generator design, manufacture and testing with no supervision. Able to demonstrate relevant design and customer experience with details.
    • Working knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems (120V up to 15kV) including DOL, Soft Starter and VFD operation.
    • Direct experience and understanding of applicable Codes & Standards such as IEEE(IEEE 43, 95, 112, 118, 522), NEMA MG-1, and ISO
    • Basic understanding of thermal and fluid dynamics to aid in temperature control of the product.


    • Direct experience with MagneForce Simulation Suite or equivalent and Induction Motor Design Tool
    • Basic Mechanical Engineering understanding on stress analysis, experience on Finite Element Analysis and Solid Works.
