  • Overview

    The Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for oversight of all payroll processing functions including preparation, reconciliation, and taxation functions.  The Supervisor will perform all necessary payroll, payroll tax, research and accounting functions.   An ideal candidate will have knowledge of payroll and tax laws and be able to independently analyze and use judgment.  The person will possess the ability to perform necessary research to ensure compliance with payroll and tax laws.  The position has daily contact with confidential information.



    • Weekly Review and correction of Kronos Timecards
    • Review time worked inputs for calculating, coding or other errors
    • Perform reconciliation of payroll and payroll taxes on a pay period basis
    • Journalize payroll entries
    • General Ledger Reconciliation of payroll and payroll tax accounts
    • Research Payroll laws federal and state
    • Work with Payroll vendor/3rd party vendors on a regular basis
    • Suggest improvements to payroll functions
    • Supervise 2-3 Employees


    Interaction with Others:


    Corporate Finance, Human Resources, Employees, Internal/External Auditors, Union Officials, 3rd party vendors


    • Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
    • Experience using an automated Payroll system (ADP, Ceridian, Workday)
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
    • At least 2 years supervisory experience
    • Experience with Payroll accounting entries
    • Experience with timekeeping systems
    • Experience with multi state payroll laws and taxability
    • Experience with the preparation of required payroll tax forms
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Detail oriented with time management skills
    • Prior experience with Union contracts as related to Payroll is preferred
    • ERP experience is a plus
