  • Overview

    Perform all required manufacturing functions to operate a CNC Shaft Lathe System.


    To Set-up and operate all related systems that support or enhance the operation of the CNC Shaft Lathe System to include micro computers and programs (supplied, edited, created at the machine), measuring devices, in process and final inspection probes, hand tools, jib hoist, overhead cranes, fork lift trucks and other material handling equipment, pedestal tool grinders, deburring tools, fixtures, miscellaneous hand tools.


    1. Reviews the daily workload schedule.
    2. Interprets drawings (part & tool) and sketches, special engineering instruction, short forms and MPO instructions.
    3. Performs all necessary set-up operations.
    4. Performs all necessary machining operations.
    5. Performs all part and tool verification requirements using various measuring instruments and machine probing systems including the completion of data sheets.
    6. Performs all tool setting requirements.
    7. Performs all planned P/M requirements.
    8. Plans and completes all necessary tooling, set-up hardware and measuring gages to manufacture the parts.
    9. Utilizes DNC Network.
    10. Performs all layout and inspection functions.
    11. Obtains drawings, tools and fixtures from the tool crib or necessary materials from stock while maintaining the department tool inventory.
    12. performs all assemblies and disassemblies as required.
    13. Monitors all machine tool functions.
    14. Marks parts for identification.
    15. Reports defective material, equipment and tooling to appropriate management personnel.
    16. Verifies accuracy of micrometers/gages as required.
    17. Deburrs as necessary.
    18. Rebuilds, adjusts, changes and dresses tools as required.
    19. Uses fork lift truck, hoists, cranes, and other material handling equipment as required.
    20. Lubricates machine as required. Wipes and oils machine ways and keeps machine, tools and work area clean.
    21. Reports production count, time and identifying data as required.
    22. Prepares, completes and issues documentation relating to CNC shaft Lathe System.
    23. Communicates to oncoming shift the current status of the machining system and component parts.


    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Must be able to work all three shifts.
    • Must be available for overtime.
