  • Overview

    The Project Engineer functions as the primary interface for the client for technical issues regarding their purchase of Elliott rerate and engineered modifications hardware.   The Project Engineer interprets specifications, technical requirements, and translates them for Elliott internal use during the execution phase of an assigned customer order.

     

    Travel is estimated at 10% domestic and international, for customer kick-off meetings and to other Elliott locations.

    Responsibilities

    • Continued building understanding of the Elliott organization, its product lines, Project Engineering work procedures, and methods. The knowledge of corporate functions is to be expanded to better understand interrelationships between department, as both suppliers of, and customers of information developed by Project Engineering.  The position requires the start of specialization in at least one area of Elliott product or major purchased component knowledge, and an expectation that the individual is to develop as a resource to the department in this area.
    • Continue building a basic understanding of industry related standards, such as API 617, API 614, API 612, etc.
    • Maintain an environment for professional and ethical conduct within the Project Engineering section as directed by Elliott corporate policies and Elliott Code of Ethics.
    • Promote a positive attitude for a safe and healthy work environment, as well as awareness for high quality products and services from Project Engineering section in support of Elliott management initiatives.
    • For projects of smaller value (less than US $5MM), function as the Lead Project Engineer in technical matters to allow for successful execution of the contract for assigned projects, at the direction of the Lead Project Engineer or Project Manager :
      • Actively participate in Project Transfer Meetings (TM1 and TM2), manage transfer of project technical information from Proposal stage, to Execution stage.
      • Facilitate and manage key customer meetings with the direction of the Project Manager, including Kick Off Meeting (KOM), Customer Coordination Meeting (CCM), Pre-Inspection Meeting (PIM) and Design Review Meetings (DRM).
      • Facilitate major purchased auxiliary supplier meetings with client, and Elliott personnel, including Kick Off Meeting (KOM), Customer Coordination Meeting (CCM), Pre-Inspection Meeting (PIM) and Design Review Meetings (DRM), with the assistance of the Project Manager.
      • Correspondence, documents, and information to be submitted to the client for approval or record.
      • Review, revision, and submittal of Elliott internal design specification information to Elliott internal customers.
      • Review and analysis of customer specifications.
      • Creation of purchase requisitions to Elliott Purchasing department for material procurement, including all supporting technical documentation.
      • Provide due diligence in the retention of information sufficient to maintain adequate knowledge of the project for down stream operations, both internal and external to Elliott.
    • For projects in excess of (more than US $5MM), assists the Lead Project Engineer in resolving technical matters to allow for successful execution of the contract for assigned projects, at the direction of the Lead Project Engineer or Project Manager:
      • Correspondence, documents, and information to be submitted to the client for approval or record under the guidance of the Lead Project Engineer or Project Manager.
      • Review, revision, and submittal of Elliott internal design specification information to Elliott internal customers
      • Review and analysis of customer specifications.
      • Creation of purchase requisitions to Elliott Purchasing department for material procurement, including all supporting technical documentation, under the guidance of the Lead Engineer.
      • Provide due diligence in the retention of information sufficient to maintain adequate knowledge of the project for down stream operations both internal and external to Elliott.
    • Keeping the Lead Engineer and/or Project Manager properly informed of the project status in a timely and accurate manner of issues regarding any assigned project or project components.
    • Follow Project Engineering department process work standards and procedures to achieve department goals.
    • Actively participate in safety programs.
    • Develop technical and commercial competence, encourage personal development and career growth by creating individualized career plan and set goals with the direction of the Operations Manager.
    • Provides leadership, guidance and direction for other team members as requested.
    • Provides technical input on quotations for the Application Engineering department as requested.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical preferred).
    • Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience as an Engineer, or equivalent technical experience.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability to function as a Lead Project Engineer for a contract order.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability to manage sub-suppliers.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service and support.
    • Exhibits desire for continuous education and training effort.
    • Possesses good basic work habits, promptness, and dependability.
    • Self-directed worker, with good work ethic.
    • Disciplined, able to follow directions and procedures.
    • Maintains a professional and business-like behavior.
    • Above average communications skills, verbal, and written with a demonstrated ability to interface across different cultural lines.
    • Excellent computer skills with Word, Excel, and Power Point. Able to operate proficiently with Elliott Business Systems, Project Management (PM), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
    • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
    • Developed time management skills, with an ability to balance demand among various projects.
    • Ability to travel, domestic and international.

     

    Preferred:

    • Master of Science in Engineering, Master of Business Administration, or advanced degree.
    • Engineer-in-Training Certification.
