  • Overview

    The title / level of the position will be commensurate with candidate experience.

    For assigned projects and tasks, the Designer shall apply professional training and experience for the production of detailed layouts, bills of materials, engineering department standard design calculations and tolerance stack-up evaluations, drawings and sketches, reports, procedures and specifications.

    Production of these items shall be in accordance with instructions contained in a design plan, project data sheets and/or verbal/written instructions from the project engineer, design manager or engineering management. This will include the development and evolution of complex mechanical systems and associated instrumentation/controls, new materials or composites for compliance to project specification and industry standards.


    This would require significant travel to Sparks, NV for 6-12 months of training, and travel to and from as needed thereafter.


    • Uses independent judgement and discretion to ensure that the design meets with job specific criteria as outlined in project related documentation.
    • Demonstrates ability to maintain project schedule
    • Plans and maintains the recommended project design task, drawing, and/or work requirement
    • Capable of demonstrating basic understanding of Procedure and Specification development, generation and implementation
    • Capable of all CAD related tasks
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management


    • Minimum A.S. degree in drafting or equivalent work experience
    • Good mechanical aptitude with relevant experience
    • Combined 5 years of work experience in one or more of the following industries: Oil and gas equipment, rotating equipment (jet or reciprocating engines, turbines, compressors, pumps) metal fabrication or manufacturing industry, automotive manufacturing industry, aerospace industry, ship building industry, heavy equipment industry and/or military service.
    • Experience in MS Windows, MS Office and MRP applications. Oracle, Windchill, Workday a plus.
    • Minimum 2 years CAD experience (AutoCAD, Co-Create, Solidworks, Solid Designer, ProE, and/or Creo); 3D CAD experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, machining, welding, assembly, and tool design.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
