  • Overview

    The Director of EH&S ensures that the company operates in a safe and environmentally sound manner while protecting the health of its employees and neighbors.    Primarily responsible for the global development and implementation of Safety and Environmental solutions to ensure facility compliance and the consistent use of "best practices".


    Further, the Director manages the Corporate Wellness Program initiatives.   Works closely with other management groups worldwide and outside contractors in this process and provides direction and support as well as monitoring for results.


    The Director works toward achieving compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements while minimizing the company's exposure to safety, worker's compensation and environmental liabilities.


    Travel is estimated at 25% domestic and international.


    • Develops the global Elliott environmental, health & safety strategies to support overall Corporate objectives.
    • Develops and manages global safety activities in the areas of policy, program consistency, coordination and evaluation. Serves as the reference point for changes in local, state and federal regulations and manages safety training, reporting and budgeting.
    • Manages company's Workers’ Compensation program to ensure compliance to state regulations and minimizes corporate liability through active case management. Manages the workers’ compensation claims control and administration and monitors and coordinates loss control inspections by outside services.   This position works with Finance Risk Manager as appropriate in the legal settlement of workers’ compensation claims.   Manages the Industrial Nurse to ensure effective case management for work and non-work related cases.
    • Manages the development and implementation of health and wellness activities and first aid programs promoting a safer work environment and healthier workforce.
    • Ensures the audit of operational facilities for OSHA and environmental compliance.
    • Develops and coordinates the training of employees to increase proficiency and compliance with established OSHA and environmental processes and regulations.
    • Chairs Executive Safety Steering Committee.
    • Manages and oversees compliance with air permits and other discharge permits in accordance with applicable environmental registrations.
    • Acts as coordinator during environmental emergencies.
    • Manages various company industrial hygiene programs including the respiratory protection program, the hearing conservation program, and the hazard communication program.
    • Audits global facilities for compliance with Elliott's industrial, safety, environmental programs.
    • Develops and monitors key safety and environmental metrics to monitor processes for corrective action as needed.
    • Develops and maintains the annual expense budget and forecasts for all areas of responsibility. 


    • Bachelor of Science degree in the sciences, safety, or engineering disciplines. Master's degree is preferred.
    • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the safety & environmental field, with global experience.
    • Working knowledge of employee wellness programs.
    • Working knowledge of all safety, workers’ compensation and environmental state and federal regulations, ISO 14000, and 18000 regulations.
    • Must be willing to travel both domestic and international.
