  • Overview

    The Donora Service Center is in search of a qualified manual machinist.  The position will be 2nd or 3rd shift and requires off shifts, weekends and holidays.


    Occasional voluntary domestic travel opportunities to other Elliott locations.


    To perform all the required layout, set-up, manual machining, subassembly, tool setting, deburring parts, broaching keyways, dimension checking, movement of parts materials and assemblies process. 


    TOOLS & EQUIPMENT: All machine shop equipment such as engine/turret lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, drill presses, surface grinders, etc. Understanding and use of various hand tools, cutting tools, measuring devices such as micrometers, dial indicators, depth and height gages, blocks, clamps, shims, fixtures, diplomatic equipment, templates, etc.



    • High school education or equivalent and machinist technical training.
    • Previous experience/knowledge in basic hand tool and machine tool use and care.
    • Understands and interprets blueprints, drawings and work instructions as required.
    • Experience in tool grinding and machine tool set up.
    • Five plus years of experience and adept at machining ferrous and non-ferrous materials
    • Ability to operate manual equipment including Horizontal Lathes, Vertical Lathes, Mills, Grinders, and Drill Presses.
    • Ability to create detail features accurately to drawings.
    • Ability to read and use precision instruments accurately and record measurements.
    • Ability to set up manual equipment including tooling selection and feeds and speeds.
    • Ability to read machine drawings and understand geometric tolerances and required job surface finishes.
    • Ability to work safely in a job shop environment.
    • Must be available for off shift (3:00PM – 11:00PM, 11:00PM - 7:00AM) and for overtime as needed.



    • Skilled Trade certification or Journeyman papers are preferred.  Veterans with machinist mate experience encouraged to apply.
    • Experience operating cranes, fork trucks, and various rigging methods.
    • Experience working on rotating equipment such as steam turbines, compressors, pumps, fans, or pressure vessels.
    • Experience in assembly work on rotating equipment.
    • Experience with dynamic balance.
    • Welding certification.
