  • Overview

    The Planner will work within the Project Management Group and will analyze project-related material and component requirements, coordinate with manufacturing to determine make or buy decisions, and provide pull signals to engineering, design and drafting for the appropriate technical product information and drawings.   The Project Planner will have overall project schedule management and updating reporting to the status directly to the Project Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop, issue, and maintain project planning process for managing individual projects.
    • Work with Marketing and Service on development of forecast models for each frame size.
    • Develop project plans for firm and budget proposals based upon scope of supply documents submitted from Sales & Applications.
    • Load project plan in accordance with marketing forecast.
    • In conjunction with Project Manager and Drafting, establish ship dates according to job content.
    • Establish intermediate schedule points within the reports, which support the scheduled shipping dates: i.e., drafting, drawing schedules, engineering releases, purchase requisitions, production and assembly and test schedules.
    • Issue reports/pull signals to prioritize work for various departments (i.e. areas, torsional data, drafting, etc.).
    • Track and expedite those activities previously scheduled to assure the best performance to the schedule: i.e. Engineering, Drafting, Purchasing, and Production.
    • Review orders in production meeting to determine on time to parts completion and assembly and test.
    • Maintain and revise as necessary planning charts for individual projects.
    • Actively participates in cost, quality, logistics, and lead time improvement processes.
    • Interviews supplier representatives and when deemed advisable, arranges for and attends meetings with our engineers or other interested personnel.
    • Makes necessary supplier plant visitations as required.
    • Attends seminars and meetings as required.
    • Prepares reports as required by Project Management.
    • Uses good value concepts and works with all departments to obtain maximum benefits.
    • Researches for technical knowledge of commodities assigned by reading and shop/supplier visits.
    • Works in accordance with plant rules.
    • Works in a safe manner.

    Qualifications

    • Five (5) or more years’ experience in planning and scheduling.
    • Must have or develop knowledge of Company policies and procedures.
    • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with strengths in production, capacity and materials requirements planning, and production activity control.
    • Must be familiar with ERP & PLM systems utilizing MRP and capacity management.
    • A background in team-oriented environments, a positive attitude, an ability to change, a demonstrated ability to make decisions and a positive perspective regarding the work environment.
    • Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to influence other departments and disciplines to work together to meet the needs of the customer.
    • Strong computer skills; MS Project preferred.

     

    Preferred:

     

    • Bachelor degree.
    • Knowledge of the Elliott product line and manufacturing requirements, internal and external.
    • Knowledge of Elliott Purchase Auxiliary Systems (Gas Panels, Motors, Gears, etc.)
    • Knowledge of mechanical and geometric drawings.
