  • Overview

    The Traffic Coordinator plans and executes domestic and international transportation shipments adhering to all current domestic and international trade regulations. Works to optimize distribution systems through detailed planning, coordination and integration of activities such as transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, shipping, receiving, and information systems. Planning, achieving, and maintaining a high level of on-time delivery and customer service for both internal and external customers is vital to this position. This is a fast paced job dealing with all types of personnel and equipment, multiple locations and facilities, as well as domestic and international orders and customers.

     

    The Traffic Coordinator is also expected to ensure compliance with the Department Operations Manual and all applicable Work Instructions in support of Elliott Safety, Quality and ISO requirements.

    Responsibilities

    • Plan and schedule daily export customer shipping requirements.
    • Review all export order requirements with Service Parts Customer Service Representatives for completeness and accuracy.
    • Obtain export shipping instructions and other necessary documents from customer.
    • Interpret all Letter of Credit documents to insure correctness.
    • Supply all shipping papers and related documents required to complete the shipment and correctly render all Elliott invoices in compliance with various export regulations insuring that complete final billings are made.
    • Completes all documents needed to be supplied to banks to insure Elliott is paid for goods and forwards these to the correct institution.
    • Coordinate shipment information between customer, freight forwarders, and shipping carriers via email, fax, or phone.
    • Obtain freight quotations from freight forwarders and shipping carriers.
    • Make certain goods are insured properly.
    • Route shipments via most economical mode.
    • Monitor transit of each shipment so that ship schedules are met.
    • Maintain current up-to-date information on export regulations and practices.
    • Coordinate with forwarder all phases of export shipments.
    • Prepare hazardous material shipping documentation as required.
    • Self-starter with the ability to work under short timeframes, well organized, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate a variety of activities.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and data charting skills.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor Degree in Business or five (5) years equivalent experience in International Shipping and Export documentation.
    • Experience in handling export shipping functions and working with freight forwarders and shipping carriers.
    • Experience in handling International shipping documentation, including Letters of Credit and other export shipping requirements.
    • Computer skills and software proficiency for Microsoft office.
