  • Overview

    To inspect, test, dismantle, install and make mechanical and electrical repairs to all tpes of electrical equipment in the facility.

     

    Tools and Equipment

    Including but not limited to, test equipment and instruments, electricians, hand tools, powered hand tolls, maintenance shop tools, conduit benders, threading machines, overhead cranes, fork lifts, personnel carriers, mobile lifts.

     

    Materials Used

    Including but not limited to wire, cable, conductors, insulators, conduit, cable tray, junction boxes, bus duct, switches, fixtures, receptacles, plugs, transformers, lights, motors, drives, capacitors, inductors, resistors, solid state devices, terminations, tapes, coatings, breakers, fuses, and other electrical devices.

     

    Direction Exercised

    Works alone or directs other workers as required. Guides and instructs newly hire Electricians in performance of job duties to established procedures in support of the contract learner language.

    Responsibilities

    General Maintenance Duties (Apply to all Maintenance Employees)

    1. Observes all safety regulations
    2. Received overall direction and instruction from supervision
    3. Maintains a clean and orderly work area
    4. Notifies supervision of any conditions that may impact production, quality and safety
    5. Assures that all work performed meets all standards and requirements
    6. Uses appropriate documentation and drawings when performing all work
    7. Updates all drawings and documentation when making changes to equipment
    8. Plans work to determine material needs and scope of work
    9. Advises supervision on material needs to perform work
    10. Reports required information in the Maintenance Management System (MMS)
    11. Operates fork trucks and man lifts
    12. Transports materials as needed within the facility
    13. Can be required to work at heights, or in confined spaces
    14. Performs routine plant maintenance as required, such as sweeping and cleaning

    Specific Duties

    1. Understands and can correctly interpret NFPA 70 (National Electric Code (NEC)), NFPA 70B (Recommended Practice for Electrical Equipment Maintenance), and NFPA 70E (Arc Flash Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace)
    2. Performs all switching of High and Medium Voltages, installs and removes all protective devices and performs all necessary testing to ensure safe working conditions around electrical services and utilities.
    3. Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities as required
    4. Advises supervision of changes to the PM program to improve effectiveness
    5. Performs electrical and mechanical work on electrical equipment and sub-systems
    6. Maintains program security for all machinery systems
    7. Has ability to make software changes, or operating system upgrades machinery systems
    8. Notifies supervision of defective materials, equipment performance or other observations that may impact production quality and safety
    9. Participates in off shift coverage program
    10. Works to install and maintain equipment as required
    11. Removal and installation of various electrical and electronic components
    12. Installation and calibration of read outs and scales on NC machines and welders

    Qualifications

    • Must be willing and able to work all shifts
    • Must be willing and able to work overtime, weekends and holidays
    • Journeyman’s card OR Associate degree plus 5 years of industrial work experience OR 10 years of relevant experience.
