Position is responsible for performing a wide variety of electrical installation. To construct and install electrical and electrical controlled equipment within our manufacturing process.
Will train on first shift (7a-3pm) and transition to second shift (3pm-11pm) once training is complete.
Perform fitting and welding functions for the installation, maintenance and repair of all types of pipe lines required in plant maintenance or construction and pipe, material and apparatus in the pipe shop, steam turbine and compressor test areas, test stands and shipping requirements.
This position would train on first shift, then switch to either 2nd or 3rd shift.
Set up and operate a variety of manual machines in order to produce and/or repair customer’s turbomachinery. The machining projects will include, but not be limited to, components from equipment such as turbines, compressors, pumps, gear boxes, etc. The machinist is also expected to perform other shop mechanical support functions, such as assist mechanics with turbine and compressor disassembly/assembly.
Turbo Mechanic will perform disassembly, inspection, repairs, assembly of turbomachinery, including turbines, compressors, pumps, gear boxes, etc.
To perform set up, select tooling and required equipment for machining of parts to required specifications and complete work in a timely manner to meet customer needs. Ability to plan and oversee the repairs with limited supervision. Ability to help train other employees in the functions and processes in the department.
Start on 1st shift (7:00 am – 3:30 pm) for training and possibly be assigned to 2nd shift thereafter (3:15 pm – 11:45 pm).
Performs all necessary assembly and test functions required to produce semi-standard or specialty turbomachinery, supercharges, and vertical and horizontal blowers.
Must be available to work daylight, afternoon or evening shift (this is not a swing shift shop) and must be willing to sign up for overtime as needed.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Cushman, JLG, lift aloft, Bench and hand tools, wrenches, grinders, drill press, band saw, hydraulic press, reamers, scrapers, hammers, files, screwdrivers, etc., measuring devices such as micrometers, dial indicators, scales, manometers, gages, thermometers, tachometers, dynamometers, lifting and positioning devices, riding work saver, scaffolds, clamp fittings, pumps, regulators, unlimited pendent & overhead cranes, vibration measuring equipment, acetylene and/or gas
heating/burning equipment. Portable generators, fire protection equipment, SCBA's, VFD/VSD Motor Drive controls, laser alignment equipment, computer, induction heating, mobile floor sweeper and scrubber machines, surface
grinders, pneumatic/hydraulic tooling.
Used: Various component parts and sub-assemblies for special or semi-standard turbomachinery.
Produced: Finished turbomachinery assemblies.
To train for the full scope of the M-188 Inspector-Machine Shop position. This is a career path progression with the employee learning four primary competencies on a developmental level. The four competencies that must be achieved, in no particular order, are 1) Receiving Inspection, 2) Rotor Inspection, 3) Stationary Heavy Machining inspection, 4) Assembly & Test and Shipping Inspection.
To set up and operate one or more MDI/CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers and perform drilling, tapping, reaming, slot sawing, deburring, tool setting, etc., on various parts processed in the YR Factory.
Tools and Equipment: Various MDI/CNC vertical and horizontal machinist centers, tap disintegrator, small shot blast. Measuring devices such as micrometers, indicators, calipers, gages, scales, etc. Set-up equipment including fixtures, clamps, blocks, templates, tool setting equipment, tapes, manuscripts, small hand tools, layout equipment, etc. Miscellaneous equipment including verberator, fork trucks, cranes, various lifting equipment and miscellaneous material handling equipment.
Materials: Various ferrous and non-ferrous materials for manufacture of component parts of steam turbines, turbochargers, etc., thread lubricants, air, coolant, lubricating oils, cleaning fluids, sealing compounds, etc.
To remove, repair, calibrate, adjust, modify, construct, install, service and maintain all mechanical, electrical and electronic instrumentation and controls used for engineering, production and testing purposes. Including: optical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, photographic, magnetic, electrical, electronic, sonic, strain gages and their lead wire systems, telemetry and slip ring data systems, computer related data acquisition systems, communications equipment and vibration systems.
Tools and Equipment:
Digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, digital counters, calibration equipment, tub and transistor checks, galvanometers, stroboscopes, micrometers, oscillators, integrated circuit test devices, frequency analyzers. Small drill press, transducers, plumbing tools, miscellaneous small hand tools, spot and arc welders, bench grinder, band saw, soldering and brazing equipment, capacitance leakage testers and electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, sonic, mechanical and other special equipment required for test and analysis, Cushman, man-lift, cranes, fork truck and other material handling equipment.
To lay out, install, repair and tack weld all types and sizes of pipe lines, fittings and fixtures, required in fabricated turbines, compressors, heaters, ejectors, turbochargers, condensers and related equipment using automatic and semiautomatic welding equipment. To layout and install water piping, water cooling systems, vacuum systems, cut to suit air piping and oil drain lines and Install oil feeds and gas systems as required for testing of equipment.

Bending, threading and cut-off machines, flame cutting equipment, automatic and semi-automatic welding equipment, electric welding equipment, band saw, drill press, lathe, portable power tools, grinder, chain blocks, jib hoist, soldering equipment, pickling tanks, safety equipment, small hand tools, overhead cranes, JLG Manlift, fork lift truck and other material handling equipment, plasma cutter, power notcher, hand power beveller, hand pipe threader, power flare machine and sandblaster, etc.
Used: Various types and sizes of pipe, tubing, fittings, fixtures, flanges, braces, meters, sealing and packing compounds, insulating materials, etc.
Produced: Pipe and tubing assemblies cut, threaded, soldered, fitted, etc., to desired size or shape for turbines, compressors, heaters, ejectors, turbochargers, condensers, and related equipment.
