To lay out, install, repair and tack weld all types and sizes of pipe lines, fittings and fixtures, required in fabricated turbines, compressors, heaters, ejectors, turbochargers, condensers and related equipment using automatic and semiautomatic welding equipment. To layout and install water piping, water cooling systems, vacuum systems, cut to suit air piping and oil drain lines and Install oil feeds and gas systems as required for testing of equipment.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Bending, threading and cut-off machines, flame cutting equipment, automatic and semi-automatic welding equipment, electric welding equipment, band saw, drill press, lathe, portable power tools, grinder, chain blocks, jib hoist, soldering equipment, pickling tanks, safety equipment, small hand tools, overhead cranes, JLG Manlift, fork lift truck and other material handling equipment, plasma cutter, power notcher, hand power beveller, hand pipe threader, power flare machine and sandblaster, etc.
Used: Various types and sizes of pipe, tubing, fittings, fixtures, flanges, braces, meters, sealing and packing compounds, insulating materials, etc.
Produced: Pipe and tubing assemblies cut, threaded, soldered, fitted, etc., to desired size or shape for turbines, compressors, heaters, ejectors, turbochargers, condensers, and related equipment.
This position is for created for entry level employees to learn and grow into welder/fitter positions. This position will assist our various production personnel in various activities in order to increase shop floor productivity while gaining manufacturing knowledge.
This position will train on first then switch to 2nd or 3rd shift.
Perform fitting and welding functions for the installation, maintenance and repair of all types of pipe lines required in plant maintenance or construction and pipe, material and apparatus in the pipe shop, steam turbine and compressor test areas, test stands and shipping requirements.
This position would train on first shift, then switch to either 2nd or 3rd shift.
The primary function of the position is to perform all the required lay-out, set-up, manual machining, CNC machining, subassembly, tool setting, deburring parts, dimension checking (geometric tolerances), and final assembly of bearing components in the service center.
Shift: will be assigned to second or third shift.
To assemble, disassemble, deburr and perform sub-assemblies produced in the heavy machining area.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
A variety of hand tools, wrenches, punches, drifts, etc., presses, ovens, sub-zero freezers, de-burring and polishing tools, jigs, drills, reamers, taps, hammers, vices, testing equipment, torque wrenches, electrical heating elements, drill press, and safety equipment. Measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gages, dial indicators, etc. They will utilize various material handling equipment to move and position their work such as job cranes.
Used: Various parts and sub-assemblies, gaskets, sealing compounds, lapping compound, bluing, abrasives, bolts, nuts, solvents, etc.
To perform all of the required layout, machining, sub-assembly, part dimensional checking to verify conformance to drawings, sketches, etc.
